NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – It was a double dose of defeat for area football fans as both the Saints and LSU lost their games in overtime this weekend.
LSU took on the Crimson Tide Saturday in Death Valley, with Alabama quarterback Blake Sims throwing a six yard touchdown pass for the overtime win.
LSU falls to 7 and 3 on the year and hits the road to play Arkansas on Saturday.
Sunday was a heartbreaker in the Superdome as the Saints fell short against the 49ers.
The black and gold looked to secure a win with a throw to Jimmy Graham in the end zone, but he was charged with a penalty for offensive pass interference.
In overtime, Drew Brees was sacked and fumbled the ball. The 49ers recovered and a field goal sealed the deal.
The 49ers won, 27 to 24.
The Saints take on the Cincinnati Bengals at the Dome next Sunday at noon.
