NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Remember that “fancy” Waffle House that was coming to Mid-City? The one the developer said would be “probably the fanciest Waffle House you’ll ever see?” It’s here!

Waffle House has opened at 2500 Canal Street, though the fanciness remains to be seen.

Real estate exec Bob Pence told the New Orleans Board of Zoning Adjustment last year that the restaurant would have a side bistro courtyard area and outdoor dining. He said it would look “a little New Orleans-ish.”

When WGNO passed by on Tuesday afternoon (June 21, 2016), there was space outside for tables and chairs, but no tables and chairs were set up outside the 24-hour kitchen that serves hash browns, sandwiches, and, you guessed it, waffles.

Fancy or not, Mid-City has a new restaurant.
