There’s a debate brewing in north Louisiana: should the federal government pay for public programs that include prayer?
The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office says the U.S. Department of Justice took away $15,000 in funding for its “Young Marines” program because it included voluntary prayer.
Senator Mary Landrieu supports the Bossier Sheriff, and now she’s introduced a bill called the “Freedom of Prayer Act” which would ban federal agencies from withholding money from organizations which allow voluntary prayer.
