NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk opened to much fanfare, and parking was in high demand.

WGNO News Reporter Darian Trotter takes a look at parking options for downtown’s newest attraction.

It’s opening day for The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk, and shoppers couldn’t have been more excited to check out the more than 70-retailers.

But first, they had to find parking. Mike Atwater says it wasn’t a problem.

“I was surprised; parking was incredibly easy because the lot was right there,” Atwater explained. “Easy access to the Riverwalk and I’m in and out.”

There are nearly three thousand available parking spaces.

Choose from the World Trade Center deck, adjacent to the Hilton Hotel, the 5 stories of parking at the Hilton lot, or the newly paved ground level lot located on Convention Center Boulevard.

“It’s downtown, there’s no free parking here but we want to everything we can to accommodate our shoppers,” VP of Marketing Caryn Kboudi said.

The outlet is offering discounted parking with any $20 purchase.

Get $7 off of your parking fee when you bring your receipt to one of two validation stations, located near the exits.

Here’s a breakdown:

Parking costs $12 for 1 to 2 hours. That’s $5 when validated

$14 for 2 to 4 hours of parking becomes $7, and $18 for 4 to 6 hours becomes $11.

Trotter asked, “Did you get validated? Not yet, we’re not finished shopping,” shopper Chris Starkey replied.

“First store I went into Neiman Marcus, spent $50 bucks. I think you only need to spend $20 bucks; got validated right outside the store in about two seconds,” Atwater said.

Trotter asked, “Overall experience, what do you give it? I give it a ten,” Starkey answered.

$20 does not have to be spent in one store, but it does have to be spent on the day you are requesting parking validation.
