NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Jason William was joined by the Executive Director of ProjectNOLA, Bryan LaGarde, to announce an arrest in a double shooting that happened September 2022.

Williams says there were no cameras in the area to record the crime but ProjectNOLA’s cameras were in the right position to and recorded the suspect before the shooting occurred.

The district attorney is encouraging neighbors and business owners to purchase security cameras to aid in crime fighting. They can be purchased from ProjectNOLA.

“Having cameras on your front door, your side door, every part of your business, these are tools that expand the eyes and reach of police officers and of ADAs,” said DA Williams.

The video from most residential cameras is kept on cloud storage but businesses often keep the videos on their own equipment. Anyone already with security cameras is encouraged to make sure they are up to date and recording.
