NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — New Orleans police are looking for a woman who is accused of stealing the tip jar from a popular ice cream shop.  The crime is the latest case to be included in our Wheel of Justice report.

According to police, it happened at about 1:30 on Sunday, August 14, at Angelo Brocato’s at 214 N. Carrollton Avenue.

tipjarPolice released two photos taken from the surveillance footage that they say shows the woman who walked into the store, put the tip jar in her purse, and walked out.

They say she got away with just $20.  But for the young workers at the business, many of whom are holding down their first job, it’s as much about the principle as the prosecution.

If you have any information that could help track down the thief, call CrimeStoppers at 504-822-1111.  Your tip in the tip jar caper could earn you up to a $2,500 reward, and you don’t have to reveal your name or testify to collect.

So far, 320 people have landed behind bars after their cases rolled on the Wheel of Justice.
