NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The New Orleans coroner has identified the man whose body was found on U.S. 90 near the General de Gaulle exit early New Year’s Day.

The victim is 28-year-old Joshua Woodruff.

The coroner lists Woodruff’s cause of death as blunt force trauma.

Fatality investigators believe that Woodruff was hit by a black car on Decatur Street and dragged to the west bank where his body was discovered by a passing motorist in the early morning hours of January 1st.

The NOPD is still trying to find the car believed to have hit Woodruff.

Pictures of the vehicle were captured on a surveillance camera in the French Quarter.
