HAMMOND, La. (WGNO) – Detectives for the Tangipahoa Sheriff’s Department now believe that they know who murdered 63-year-old Mary Alvarez at her Hammond plant and gardening store in November of 2012.
Detectives believe that Eric Selders, who is currently serving a 15-year prison sentence on gun and drug charges, shot and killed Alvarez.
The sheriff’s department has not officially issued a warrant for Selders yet in the Alvarez murder.
They say they are waiting until they are fully satisfied with their case against Selders before they issue the warrant.
They also say that they are taking their time with the case because Selders is already in prison on unrelated charges.
