NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD is responding to a shooting along the Uptown Parade route. A little before 11:00 tonight, the NOPD announced that the victim had died.
The man was shot near Second Street and St. Charles Avenue, according to the NOPD. It was the second Mardi Gras day shooting case for the NOPD.
Earlier this afternoon, two men were shot a block away from the spot where Rex toasted the queen just hours earlier.
That first shooting happened after two teens got into a fight.
One victim was shot in the head. The other was hit in the leg.
The NOPD says the second shooting happened at about 4:30 this afternoon, February 13, in the 2400 block of Saint Charles Avenue.
They say two men got into an argument and one pulled a gun, opening fire and hitting the other in the body. The victim who was killed was 30-years-old.
The department says officers were in the area and heard the shots. Those officers were able to get to the scene quickly.
Police say they were able to detain a person of interest who saw what happened. At last word, according to police, the witness was being interviewed, but no arrests had been made.
