LULING, La. (WGNO) – A Luling man was arrested for aggravated cruelty to animals after reportedly shooting his neighbor’s cat with a bow and arrow.
According to a news release from the Humane Society of Louisiana, the owners of ninth-month-old Max heard a noise Monday evening and found that their cat had been shot by an arrow.
The couple rushed Max to a vet clinic in LaPlace. Fortunately, the arrow did not pierce any vital organs, and Max is still recovering at the animal hospital. The arrow that was used to shoot Max is commonly used in hunting wild animals.
Investigators developed a suspect in the case after the couple canvassed their neighborhood and offered a $200 reward for information that would lead to an arrest.
Cody Dupre, 34, who lives in the same subdivision, turned himself in and was booked into the St. Charles Parish Jail for aggravated cruelty to animals. The couple were cited for violating leash law.
His bond was set at $30,000.
