Pair of crashes cripple afternoon Causeway commute

MANDEVILLE – Both lanes of both spans of the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway were closed after separate multi-vehicle crashes this afternoon. The first collision shut down the northbound span of the bridge at mile marker 21.7 just before 12:45 P.M. this afternoon, according to Causeway officials. That crash was cleared up by 2 P.M., but about 15 minutes later, a separate crash closed both lanes of the southbound span around mile marker 4.5. All lanes of the Causeway have been reopened as of 5 P.M. Stay tuned to WGNO for details.
