METAIRIE– A truck flew off the southbound span of the Causeway Bridge this morning and plunged into Lake Pontchartrain at mile marker 18 this morning.
Rescue boats immediately headed to the headed to the area.
The southbound bridge was closed for nearly an hour due to rescue efforts.
Two people and a dog were rescued from the submerged truck, according to bridge officials.
