Alla’s 2014 monarch of merriment, Jefferson Parish Council Chairman Chris Roberts, was raised in Terrytown and is a life-long resident of Jefferson Parish’s West Bank. He graduated from Archbishop Shaw High School and Our Lady of Holy Cross College. Roberts is a successful businessman, and he has served his community on the Jefferson Parish School Board and as Jefferson Parish District 1 Councilman. Currently, he serves in an at-large capacity as Council Chairman.
Roberts has been an ardent supporter of the Krewe of Alla and Mardi Gras in Jefferson Parish. Our community’s heritage, traditions, and quality of life are near and dear to him, and Alla is eternally grateful for his support over the years.
Roberts is the son of Cheryl Joia Roberts and James Mack Roberts, and is the father of Grace, Grant, and Samuel Roberts, all of whom will serve as his pages in the 2014 parade.
Alla’s 2014 queen, Miss Gabrielle Lynn Taylor, is a native of Terrytown, now a resident of Jacksonville, Florida, where she is a senior at Bishop Kenny High School.
Taylor is an accomplished dancer, having competed in and won dance competitions throughout the southern United States. She is active in her church’s youth group, performing many service hours for the elderly and underprivileged children.
Taylor descends from Alla royalty. Her grandfather, John A. Beninate, was king in 1966. Her mother, Kimberly Beninate Taylor, was maharanee in 1983, and her sister, Samantha Ann Taylor, was maharanee in 2009. Taylor’s uncle, John A. Beninate, II, is our captain and 2001 maharajah.
Taylor is the daughter of Eric and Kimberly Beninate Taylor.
