NEW ORLEANS, La. (WGNO)- On Wednesday morning, the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office began investigating the death of an inmate.

The department says 46-year-old, Robert Rettman was found unresponsive in his cell around 10:15 Tuesday morning. Rettman had been jailed Sunday and was facing charges of armed robbery and drug possession.

An autopsy is planned.

The Sheriff’s Office said that as of Tuesday night, there was no evidence of foul play in Rettman’s death.
