Got your TuTu ready for the RunRun? Crescent City Classic is ready to roll

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The Crescent City Classic is one of the country’s oldest 10K races.

And this year is number 38 for the New Orleans race.

WGNO News with a Twist features guy Wild Bill Wood takes you to the Crescent City Classic Expo.

The Expo is sort of like being at the mall the night before Christmas.

It’s a crazy, crowded Hyatt Regency New Orleans ballroom that’s filled with anything and everything a runner could ever need.  And anything a runner could ever want!

It’s all for the race that started in 1979 with just 902 runners.

This year, more than 20,000 have signed up for the race.

It starts Saturday morning at 8 at the Superdome.

And it winds its way around town to the finish line at City Park.

Some people run.   A lot of people walk.  Some people say if they have to they will crawl to finish the race.

It really is a classic.  In face, it has become the preeminent fitness event in Louisiana.

It’s also a race with history.  The Crescent City Classic was the first 10K race ever televised nationally.

Let Wild Bill show you what the runners are up to on the day before.  And what the most fashionable will be wearing to make their mark on the course.
