NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The French Quarter is no stranger to celebrity guests.

There’s one spot, where a Hollywood Oscar-winner would always retreat to when she stayed in New Orleans.

Since the 1970’s, celebrities have been drawn to the Audubon Cottages and it’s exclusive and luxurious feel.

Cottage #3 just happened to be Elizabeth Taylor’s favorite private oasis.

“Elizabeth Taylor was a long-time fan of Audubon Cottages.  She came here over 27 times during her career.  When she stayed here, she’d always ask for Cottage #3.  She did some films back in the day here, ”  Marc Becker with New Orleans Hotel Collection said.

With it’s classic and charming feel, Taylor always felt right at home.

“The furnishings are historic.  Some of the decor came from the owner’s personal collection.  It makes for a very residential feel rather than a commercial feel like most hotel rooms,”  Becker said.

The cottage where Elizabeth Taylor stayed is a two bedroom, two bathroom with a parlor.  This cottage costs $1,100 per night.

There’s no doubt in Becker’s mind that if Taylor was still alive today that she’d surely enjoy all the latest perks.

“We do have all the modern conveniences like i-pod docking stations,”  Becker said.

The Audubon Cottages is located at 509 Dauphine Street in the French Quarter.
