NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Police are investigating two mysterious deaths Thursday morning. One body was found in the French Quarter and another in New Orleans East. Investigators do not believe they are linked.
Authorities say a man’s body was found along the Mississippi River near Jackson Square around 7 a.m.
At this time, police are not classifying the death as a homicide or suspicious. Police say they don’t believe any foul play was involved.
The body has been transferred to the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.
Second body
A little earlier Thursday, New Orleans police received a call around 6:30 a.m., that a body of an unidentified black woman was found on the right shoulder of Interstate 10 East at Bullard Avenue.
At this time, the body is an unclassified death and it is being investigated by Traffic and Homicide Units.
The coroner’s office will conduct an autopsy.
Authorities shut down I-10 for several hours Thursday morning while police investigated the body.
