NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The NOPD has arrested 30-year-old Jesse Banks, who was connected to the shooting of two men in Mid-City on June 6, 2015.
On Monday, Sergeant Dan Anderson saw a grey Nissan speeding in the 2200 block of Bienville Street. Anderson tried to pull the car over, but Banks kept on driving and eventually bailed out of the car. Anderson chased Banks on foot, and while chasing him he saw Banks throwing down a pistol in the area. Banks tried everything to escape, including breaking into a home and trying to hide, but Sergeant Anderson recognized him right away as the suspect responsible for the shooting.
The police surrounded the house and used the NOPD Canine Unit. Banks eventually had to surrender to the police after he was bitten by a canine. Banks was hospitalized after the bite, and after his treatment he was booked into Central Lockup and charged with two counts of aggravated battery by shooting, felon in possession of firearm, simple burglary and resisting and officer.
The victims in the shooting are recovering from their injuries. Banks was positively identified as the shooter in the incident.
