NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Get ready to see more police officers on New Orleans city streets.
The 54 additional officers are part of a major restructuring effort within the department to reduce crime on city streets.
Superintendent Michael Harrison says the added manpower will lead to better response times.
The NOPD will continue their aggressive recruiting and hiring campaign which led to the launch of four new recruit classes in 2015.
The department expects to graduate one recruit class and start another one in April of this year.
