PEARL RIVER, La. (WGNO) – A Pearl River foster mother is accused of abusing three special needs adults who were in her care.

Terry Crowe, 64, was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on charges of cruelty to the infirmed and aggravated battery, according to a news release from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Two of the special needs adults in her care, an 18-year-old and a 22-year-old, told a teacher at their high school that Crowe had hit them. They also said Crowe had hit a 36-year-old special needs adult who was living in her home.

The 18- and 36-year-olds were foster children, while Crowe had adopted the 22-year-old.

All three had visible marks and bruises.

Four other adults and one 11-year-old child, all with special needs, also lived in the home and were being cared for by Crowe at the time, but deputies said they don’t believe Crowe abused them.

They have all been removed from Crowe’s home.

Crowe is being held on a $55,000 bond.
