METAIRIE, La. (WGNO) – A 25-year-old woman from Metairie is accused of running over a man early Christmas Eve morning, then returning to the scene and calling 911.

On Monday, investigators got a call from a manager of a body shop who believed a Honda Civic that was brought in may have been involved in an accident.

While investigators were speaking with the manager the owner of the Honda, Jennifer Kuzma, arrived.

She told them she hit Travis Burns in the 1400 block of N. Causeway Blvd. last Wednesday (Dec. 24), but Kuzma said she didn’t know what she ran over.

Kuzma also admitted to leaving the scene, however she returned about 30 minutes later and called police after finding the man lying in the road.

At that time, Kuzma did not tell the responding officer she was involved in the accident.

Burns of Metairie remains in critical condition at University Hospital.

Kuzma was booked with one count of felony hit-and-run, injuring public records and criminal mischief.
