COVINGTON, La. (WGNO) – St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man about a month after he filed a complaint alleging that his girlfriend was getting harassing phone calls from her former boyfriend.
Brent Golden, 26, told deputies that Melvin Lacrouts, 28, sent his girlfriend several text messages one night in September and then came over without permission.
When deputies went to Lacrouts’s Covington home to investigate the complaint they noticed Lacrouts’s boat on fire in his driveway.
Investigators confirmed that the fire had been intentionally set and arrested Golden Wednesday charging him with simple arson.
Deputies also arrested Lacrouts for harassing communications.
Both men are currently in the St. Tammany Parish Prison.
