NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — New Orleans is one of the top locations in the nation for human sex trafficking. That’s the word from FBI Special Agent in Charge Michael Anderson.
WGNO News recently sat down with Anderson to talk about the problem. He says that the high-profile sports events and large music festivals that bring big crowds to New Orleans also attract pimps. And because New Orleans has a reputation as a party town, people are more likely to pay for sex here.
“People can maybe rationalize themselves to a little less accountability,” Anderson said of the people who pay for sex. “(They) Throw out the rules, just for this weekend.”
Anderson also talked about how the pimps use drugs to control the women and girls they victimize. He also talks about the challenges of rescuing the victims.
