Las Vegas, NV (KVVU) — Las Vegas police officers investigating a shooting Wednesday were led to an apartment where they found containers of marijuana, weapons and a human fetus in a freezer.

Documents were released Thursday into the arrests of Preston Caudle, 24, and Carlena Walker, 25, who were detained at their apartment at 6666 W. Washington Ave.

According to documents, a tip by security at the complex led officers to the apartment, where they detected a strong odor of marijuana while being greeted by Walker. Police said Caudle and their child were also in the apartment.

After Walker consented to a search of the unit, officers found multiple drug paraphernalia as well as jars of marijuana in a backpack under a baby bassinet, according to police.

Documents stated officers froze the unit for a search warrant, leading them to find two weapons, one of which was found in the bassinet. Police said the weapon, which had a bullet in the chamber but an empty magazine, was reported stolen.

Officers continued their search which wound up with the discovery of a human fetus within a jar inside a freezer.

Walker told police the fetus was the result of a miscarriage she had last October. According to documents, Walker decided to put the 8-week-old fetus in a jar and keep it in the freezer.

Officers also found multiple items for a marijuana grow operation inside the a bedroom for the couple’s child. The items included grow lights, PVC pipe, fertilizer and a tub.

Police later learned Caudle was convicted in Arizona for drug possession.

Officers booked Caudle on first-degree possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, first-degree child abuse/neglect, possession of stolen property and possession of a gun by a prohibit person. Walker was booked into Clark County Detention Center on first-degree child abuse/neglect.

Documents did not state whether charges would be filed stemming from the discovery of the fetus.
