Many who live in the Lower Garden District have been calling attention to a historic home that’s in awful shape.  The Rountree House was designed by architect James Freret and built for Jefferson Parish Sheriff Austen Rountree in 1869.  Neighbors thought there would be no hope in saving the gem until a major renovator stepped in and bought the home in late January.  Andrea Bland of Cygnette, LLC is using historic preservation tax credits to restore the home.  The project should be done by the end of the year and it will be leased as a luxury home.
