ATLANTA, Ga. (WGNO) – Julia Aaron Humbles, the New Orleans-born civil rights activist died Tuesday.

In the 1960’s, Julia Aaron was among a group of young people from New Orleans that staged sit-ins, challenged laws on buses traveling across the south, and even spent time behind bars in several states for their actions.

In the video above from 2013, LBJ spoke with Aaron Humbles and Jerome Smith about their contributions to the fight to make America more equal.

In later years, she moved with her family to Atlanta.

Julia Aaron Humbles was 73-years-old.  Burial arrangements are pending.
