NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – An NOPD officer is in stable condition after a car crash on Interstate 10 westbound.
Police say the officer stopped his marked unit with his overhead lights on to assist motorists in an accident. They say the driver of a black SUV hit the police unit while the officer was inside and propelled the police unit into the vehicle in front of him that was involved in the earlier accident.
The driver of the SUV was also taken to the hospital, and police say his injuries appear to be non-life threatening.
