NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — New Orleans police released surveillance footage in a battery investigation that happened over the weekend.

They say the attack happened at the Big Easy Daiquiri Shop at 501 Bourbon Street on September 3 at about 4:00 in the morning.

According to police, a woman stopped at the business to use the bathroom.  Inside the bathroom, according to police, the woman heard someone knocking on the main door, so she opened it and attempted to leave.

At that point, police say the woman was shoved by a man.  They also say the man was holding a small, chrome handgun in his hand and struck the woman in the face, causing her to bleed.  Police did not say if the weapon itself or the man’s hand caused the injury.

Police say the woman was with a friend at the time and both hid in the restroom until the felt safe to leave.
