SLIDELL, La. (WGNO) – Eleven months after a man died from a heroin overdose, Slidell investigators arrested his drug dealer. Detectives arrested Joseph Laue on Monday for second-degree homicide and two counts of distribution of a controlled substance.

In August 2015, Albert Marant died from a heroin overdose.

Investigators were able to identify Laue as Marant’s dealer. It’s believed that Laue sold heroin in the Slidell area.

“With today’s national heroin epidemic, everyone loses. One family lost their son as he battled with his own narcotics addiction, and another family’s son, Joseph Laue, now faces the possibility of life in prison,” Slidell Police Chief E.J. Howard said. “There is help out there for anyone struggling with addiction, The Operation Angel Program is just one of many designed to help those who are struggling.”
