Gone in less than a minute!
The first rocket to ever launch in Hawaii, failed mid-flight, Tuesday evening.
The “Super Strypi” launch vehicle is part of the U.S. Air Force’s ORS-4 Mission.
There were 13 small satellites on board, including one that’s particularly special to us here at WGNO.
Scott Cutler, the brother of GMNO and WGNO News at 11 anchor Anne Cutler, built it in his own garage!
The is the second cube-sat Scott has built with friends, who crowd-funded the $117,000 project through Kickstarter.
Their first satellite launched successfully, early last year, however it had communication issues once in orbit.
The team had hoped to resolve those problems with this latest version.
