NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Tuesday evening, friends and family of 20-year-old Milan Arriola gathered near the scene where she was shot and killed just days before.

Arriola was the passenger in a car that was sprayed with bullets.  The suspect, Will Reed, is behind bars on a $350,000 bond on a second-degree murder charge.

At Tuesday’s vigil, friends and family tried to comfort Arriola’s parents.  There were t-shirts, photographs, and hugs to go around.

Her mother is a New Orleans police officer and her father is a firefighter.  So the vigil brought a crowd of emergency responders to the scene who work every day to help those suffering losses.

But rarely does the loss hit so close to home.  To see a video of the vigil for Arriola, click on the video button above.
