NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – There has been no measurable rainfall in New Orleans since September 28, when .02″ of rain fell. September 27 we received 1.18″ at the airport.

Northern Louisiana is dealing with much more severe drought conditions than the southeast part of the state. 51% of the state is under severe drought, while 6.8% is under exceptional drought conditions.

Southeastern Louisiana is generally under moderate drought conditions, and the entire state is dealing with abnormally dry conditions. Even though October is  the driest month of the year for the state, we are still 2.64″ below average rainfall for the month to date.

The next chance to see rain will be this weekend with an approaching cold front.
